The 3-card Teen Patti game is one of India's most popular card games, with its simple rules and interesting gameplay — and its popularity has only increased with the emergence of online gaming. Played with a standard deck of 52 cards among 2 to 6 players, it's also known as Indian Poker, Indian Flush, and Flash.
Skill Patti: A Game of Skill
Teen Patti on Empire Games is a skill-based format where your card skills, logical thinking, and strategy determine the outcome. Unlike pure chance-based games, skill-based Teen Patti rewards players who understand the rules deeply and make smart decisions at every stage of the hand.
Dealer Rules
The dealer position rotates clockwise around the table after each hand. The dealer is responsible for distributing three cards face-down to every player. Before cards are dealt, all players contribute the boot (minimum stake) to the pot. The dealer also manages the flow of betting rounds and ensures the pot is correctly rounded at showdown.
Blind & Seen Player Rules
Players choose to play either blind or seen at the start of each hand:
- Blind players do not look at their cards. They place bets without knowing their hand, and their stake amounts are typically lower than seen players'.
- Seen players look at their cards before betting. They must bet at least twice the blind player's stake. Seen players can also request a sideshow (compromise) with the previous seen player.
A blind player may choose to become seen at any point during the hand. Once seen, they cannot return to blind play.
Rules of Skill-Based Teen Patti Bets
Betting proceeds clockwise around the table. Each player must either place a bet equal to or greater than the current stake or fold their hand. The pot grows with each round of betting. Players can raise the stakes, and others must match the raise or fold. The hand continues until all but one player has folded, or until a showdown is called — at which point remaining players reveal their cards and the highest-ranking hand wins the pot.
Online Cash 3 Patti Card Sequences
Winning hands in Teen Patti follow a clear hierarchy. Here are the card sequences from highest to lowest:
| Rank | Sequence | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (Highest) | Trail | Three of a Kind — three cards of the same rank (e.g., K-K-K) |
| 2 | Pure Sequence | Straight Flush — three consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 7-8-9 all hearts) |
| 3 | Sequence | Straight — three consecutive cards, not all same suit (e.g., 4-5-6 mixed suits) |
| 4 | Colour | Flush — three cards of the same suit, not in sequence |
| 5 (Lowest) | Pair | Two cards of the same rank plus one unmatched card |
When two players hold the same type of hand, the one with the higher card values wins. Aces can play high or low in sequences (A-2-3 or Q-K-A).
Trail — The Ultimate Hand
A Trail (Three of a Kind) is the strongest possible hand in Teen Patti. Three Aces form the highest Trail, followed by three Kings, three Queens, and so on down to three Twos. If two players both hold a Trail, the higher-ranking triplet wins. A Trail beats every other hand category — Pure Sequence, Sequence, Colour, and Pair — making it the most coveted combination at the table.
